Full Job Description

We're looking for a skilled Specialist Technician to join our technical team at our School of Pre-Degree Studies. This role demands a high level of specialist skills with a background in the fashion and textiles industry to work within our technical team, to contribute to the delivery of our International Introduction to the Study of Fashion (IISF) course. As part of our exciting UAL Pre-Degree provision, the IISF course is a 1-year diagnostic foundation course specifically created for international students who want to progress to an undergraduate course at LCF. Based within the IISF studios at our Lime Grove campus, you'll support the delivery of a high-quality technical service, utilising your industry expertise to provide effective support and advice that will help our students to gain the skills they need to progress onto a degree-level course. This will involve supporting the planning, development and delivery of learning activities, as well as the delivery of exhibitions and events within the school. This is an exciting opportunity to progress your career in a stimulating and fast-paced environment, working with prominent academics and experts from the Fashion Design, Fashion Media and Fashion Business industries., Stages involved in the process: Application, Shortlisting, Interview Panel Q&A, Onboarding. You'll need an undergraduate degree (or equivalent industry experience) in Fashion Design, Fashion Media and Fashion Business, along with relevant experience within the fashion and textiles industry. You'll be able to provide efficient and effective support to academics/pathway leaders in the delivery of teaching and learning materials and also assist students in translating their 2D ideas into 3D realisation. Experience of working with large numbers of international students and an awareness of the challenges that these students face coming to the UK for the first time to study is essential. You'll also need excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate well with low-level English speakers. You will also have previous experience and skill in in 3D garment construction and have experience of instructing students to transition from 2D design to 3D realisation. A DBS check is also required for this role.
