Full Job Description

As part of Essex County Councils Public Health team, you will drive work that will enable us to develop a clear vision and priorities for improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people in Essex. To do this you will work closely with the children and family's team, the corporate analytics team, procurement team and NHS to produce a needs assessment, benchmark the existing 0 - 19 service, monitor the existing healthy child programme, develop new initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people in Essex.

  • Educated to degree level and/or appropriate professional qualification relevant to the field or equivalent by experience, with specialist knowledge of substance misuse treatment, governance, procedures and practices across substance misuse field.

  • Proven track record of successfully delivering outcomes.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately and to inspire and gain the confidence and participation with a range of internal and external stakeholders and engagement partners. of a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Knowledge and experience of all aspects of the commissioning cycle, project life cycle and related activities gained within a commissioning environment.

  • Experience of delivery of public services and managing change in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.

  • Experience of working in a political environment, working effectively with members and senior officers across the council and partner agencies.


  • Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area. Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
