Full Job Description
CLCH Sexual Health Hertfordshire (SHH) provides sexual health services across Hertfordshire, with 3 main centres in Hatfield, Watford, and Stevenage, 2 further level 2 services in Cheshunt and Borehamwood. Sexual Health Hertfordshire aims to provide high quality sexual health care to its patient population within a high-skilled multidisciplinary and integrated model. It also keen to support research initiatives via the CLCH Research and Development department. This post will be based at Watford Sexual Health Centre and is a substantive post. As a busy integrated sexual health service, the service is dynamic and caters a diverse population with high need. Specialist GUM services include the male and female complex GUM clinics, young person's clinics, LGBTQ+ clinics, HIV PrEP and contraception including Long-Acting Reversible Contraception procedures (LARC). Multidisciplinary team working is encouraged in order to promote high quality patient care and the appointee will be expected to work closely with our nursing, health advisor and management and administrative teams and build positive and efficient working relationships. The post holder will be required to participate in audit, research and teaching of medical students and junior doctors attached to the team as well as in service development initiatives., The post is for 5 PAs in the capacity of a middle-grade specialty doctor. The post-holder will be responsible for investigating, diagnosing and treating sexually transmitted infections and all aspects of sexual and reproductive health. They will be expected to be involved in specialist GUM clinics and assist in the development of new and existing clinical services. In addition they will also be responsible for checking and acting on laboratory results and discussion of these results with senior medical staff as required/appropriate. The post-holder will be encouraged take up further training to gain competencies to be able to provide senior cover for GUM clinics to members of the non-medical and junior medical teams. The post-holder will be responsible for arranging appropriate onward internal and external patient referrals. The post-holder will also be expected to contribute to non-clinical duties (e.g. junior doctor induction programme co-ordination and managerial responsibilities) as delegated. The doctor shall contribute to the development of the multidisciplinary team by offering support, education and teaching/training where required.
