Established in 2003 East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) is a large integrated health care organisation providing high quality acute secondary healthcare for the people of East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen. A satisfactory medical examination is a condition of employment for Medical and Dental staff in the NHS. The programme of support for each individual doctor will be flexible depending on his/her particular needs and experience. We have a strong emphasis on training and have a strong commitment to support, mentorship and development of all of our staff and have regular multidisciplinary meetings., The candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary team approach alongside of medical staff, nurse practitioners, and allied health professionals. Clinical research, quality improvement and service development are actively encouraged.

Applicants will hold Full registration with GMC and a licence to practise Applicants must possess the following skills, Able to fully integrate within the Urology unit . Able to communicate with and motivate colleagues both medical and non-medical, evidence of good team worker,

  • Full GMC registration
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification MBChB
  • ATLS, Basic Surgical Skills, CCrisP
  • MRCS or Equivalent
  • Desirable criteria
  • Higher degree, Experienced and competent in elective and non-elective General Urology
  • Experience in audit management
  • 4 years' experience in general urology
  • Desirable criteria
  • Experience of teaching basic clinic skills to undergraduates
  • Evidence of research experience, Ability and willingness to participate in research and audit
  • Ability to organise and manage clinical priorities
  • Desirable criteria
  • Experience of Solo operating or clinical experience, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

We employ over 9,500 staff, many of whom are internationally renowned and have won awards for their work., The Urology service at ELHT is progressive and forward thinking and these posts present an exciting opportunity to join a cohesive team of enthusiastic Urology professionals who are supported by high quality colleagues in the wider multi-disciplinary team.
  • The appointment is for a Full time Senior clinical fellow working across ELHT. With this appointment there will be 8 full time Urology registrars supporting a 1:8 on-call rota. There is subspecialisation in Oncology, Endourology and functional Urology. All consultants still undertake core Urology. Andrology services are also provided but are mainly run by a Clinical Nurse Specialist. The department is an accredited cancer centre for the Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Network where the major pelvic cancer surgery is currently split between East Lancashire Hospitals Trust and one other provider. The trust has two NHS commissioned da Vinci robots which are used for radical prostatectomies, partial and radical nephrectomies. Cystectomy procedures are currently not performed at ELHT but this is under review.   • Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata. For posts on Agenda for Change pay-scales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.
