The focus will be to work collaboratively with the existing team and to manage the rising cancer 2 week wait referrals and treatment to target times. This post has no General Surgery commitments.
This opportunity would ideally suit someone looking to further their career and scopes of practice with the possibility to work towards the specialist register via the Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR). The department has an excellent reputation for supporting specialty trainees and providing the knowledge and support required.
The post holder is expected to work closely with the Breast Multidisciplinary team providing and further developing care of breast patients and further develop breast services. The post holder will be expected to attend and participate in the Breast MDT and clinical and management meetings., Clinical governance is assuming ever greater importance within the NHS and there is strong emphasis on this area within PAH. The appointee will be expected to contribute and participate in governance activities in depth and breadth. A strong desire to improve governance standards is essential. The post holder will be expected to carry out audit and activities in association with the clinical governance as required by the Trust.
The appointee has continued clinical and professional responsibility for patients admitted under their care.
The post-holder will have an overriding duty of care to patients and will be expected to comply fully with best practice standards. The post-holder will have a responsibility to comply with Trust policies for personal and patient safety and for prevention of healthcare-associated infection (HCAI); this includes a requirement for rigorous and consistent compliance with Trust policies for hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment and safe disposal of sharps. Knowledge, skills and behaviour in the workplace should reflect this; at annual appraisal you will be asked about application of practice measures known to be effective in reducing HCAI.

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) provides a full range of general acute, outpatient and diagnostic services at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishop's Stortford, and St Margaret's Hospital in Epping.
