EPUT is looking to appoint a passionate and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor who will provide consistent, high quality Medical input support to the urgent and Inpatient directorate on Topaz ward, Crystal Centre, Chelmsford. The service provides 14 beds mixed ward for service users of adult working age offering inpatient psychiatric assessments, treatment and care to help reduce risk of harm to self and others. On the site, there is a female acute ward (Galleywood), a male acute ward (Finchingfield), a 10-bed psychiatric intensive care unit (Christopher Unit).

The post holder willwork along with the consultant in the ward and be responsible for delivering a quality clinical service. Additionally the post holder will be required to work closely with other colleagues within the directorate and to ensure safe handover to community colleagues.

You should be eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold Section 12 (2) approval under the Mental Health Act 1983. You will also need to provide evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competences in psychiatry at time of application and likelihood of achieving CT2 competences in psychiatry by the start date of the post.

  • · Attend Ward reviews

    · Attend MDT meetings

    · Carry out Ward review when the Consultants is away

    · Admitting patients during working hours

    · Attending to urgent clinical issues for patients on the ward

    · Supervise the completion of discharge summaries for patients

    · Administrative work related to these activities

    · Support Trainee Doctors

    · Work with Multidisciplinary team

    · Attend the weekly regular supervision with the consultant
