Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity to work as a Specialty Doctor.
The post is a split post between Cleadon (functional old age ward) and Roker (organic old age ward) at Monwearmouth hospital.
You will part of a well established MDT which includes Nurses, Consultant Psychiatrists, Nurse Consultants, Psychologists, SALT Practitioners, OT as well as a visiting GP. The trust offers support to SAS doctors including SAS tutor, SAS development days as well as support for developmental opportunities (e.g. obtaining specialist registration or approved clinician status through portfolio route, research, medical education, management opportunities for interested SAS doctors)

Please note this vacancy will close once sufficient applications have been received., You will be providing input into assessment and treatment of the patients on the unit under the supervision of the consultant psychiatrist. You will be an integral part of the ward leadership team and attend MDT meetings. You will provide valuable input into developing assessment and treatment plans for the patients., Assessment (medical and psychiatric), treatment and management of patients referred to the service. The doctor's work will be supervised by the consultant psychiatrist involved in the service.
Attending and contributing to MDT meetings including 72 hours meeting, formulation meetings, professionals meetings and discharge meetings.
Multidisciplinary team working will be essential; collaborating with GP's, Community Treatment Team and primary care clinicians regarding the physical health care of patients admitted to the unit.
To work collaboratively with other Senior Clinical Colleagues in the inpatient care team.
To take a lead role with the consultant psychiatrist, ward Manager and other colleagues in service improvements and development.
To contribute to the ongoing training and development programme within the team.
Administration responsibilities include appropriate documentation as required within the Trust systems.
Prepare reports for mental health review tribunals and managers hearings.
