Full Job Description

Tower Hamlets Home Treatment Team (TH HTT) provides an alternative to acute psychiatric admissions and facilitate early discharges from the ward. The HTT also provides psychiatric treatment to patients in the 10-bed Crisis House, established in 2010 in partnership with the Third sector (Look Ahead). This facility provides another alternative to hospital admission for patients and improves patient choice and quality of care. This is a unique and valuable resource along the crisis pathway. The post holder is expected to provide contribution as a qualified psychiatrist to the MDT in diagnosis and assessment of psychiatric conditions, management/appropriate referral of co-morbid medical disorders, risk management and supervision of medication prescribing. This post provides an opportunity to understand the principles of positive risk management and experience in mental health act assessments and where appropriate to gain experience in providing clinical leadership. The post holder will work closely with two substantive consultants in the team ELFT is a teaching Trust, rated Outstanding by the CQC which provide Mental health and Community Service across East London and Bedfordshire.

  • Medical degree, MBBS or equivalent (A) License to practice with the GMC (In good standing and if relevant up to date with regards to revalidation)

  • Mental Health Act Higher degree (A)
  • Previous experience Essential
  • Previous experience1-2 yrs training at CT1-3 grade or higher in psychiatry (A) Or Min 2 yrs clinical experience as a Speciality Doctor or equivalent in Psychiatry (A)
  • Min 2 yrs clinical experience as a Speciality Doctor or equivalent in Psychiatry (A)
  • Desirable
  • Previous experience of working in the community mental health setting (A, I)
  • Interest in the principles of recovery oriented practice. (A, I)
  • Section 12 Approval
  • previous experience of working in a Home Treatment Team
  • Skills and abilities Essential
  • Psychiatric assessment and consultation skills (I)
  • Willingness to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (A I)
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills (A I)
  • Evidence of commitment to service development and quality improvement
  • Teaching skills and commitment to teaching various members of the MDT
  • Desirable
  • Involvement in Quality improvement/audit/research
