CNWL is one of the largest trusts in the UK, caring for people with a wide range of physical and mental health needs to a third of London, Milton Keynes and parts of Kent, Surrey and Hampshire. Over recent years our catchment area has grown significantly, making the Trust's population more diverse than ever. We are constantly developing and working in innovative ways to provide modern, dependable services in
+ physical and mental health sectors
+ primary, secondary and community services
+ in health and social care settings for all ages.
Westminster adult mental health service provides a range of mental health services for adults within the community and in hospital settings. Two mental health hubs provide an overarching structure in the North and South of the borough, within which there are functional groupings serving each PCN.
The team receives about 50 referrals/ month and has a caseload of about 400. The model of care is detailed in the Standard Operating Procedure but key operating principles are:
1. No wrong door- diagnosis and severity are not obstacles to referral
2. Intensive triage enables the right assessment and intervention early
3. Focused and named intervention enables quick help and rapid throughput
4. High level liaison and physical presence in GP surgeries enables pre-empting of referrals as well as early ending of interventions and support for patients in primary care
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This is a replacement Specialty Doctor post. The post holder will be working in the North Hub. The North hub has two "functional groups" - Regents Health and St John's Wood. Each is linked with a PCN (Primary Care Network).
Each team is multidisciplinary and responsible for jointly triaging all mental health referrals of patients who are under the care of the GPs in the PCNs.
The post holder will be supervised by the consultant psychiatrists in each team. There is a full time ST4-6 trainee and a full time CT1-3 trainee in St John's Wood PCN team. There is a full-time staff grade psychiatrist in Regent's Health PCN team. Both teams are multidisciplinary with staff from different professional backgrounds to help meet patient needs.
There are no on call duties in this post. However, there are opportunities to do optional NHS locum junior on call work in St Charles Hospital when available. The post holder will be part of a CPD peer group in South Westminster.
The post holder will have a relatively small caseload of sole-managed cases (<20 in each team) and will therefore work flexibly and responsively to support the MDT where medical opinion and management is sought either for new or existing cases.

We're proud of our diversity and we continue to undertake new initiatives to advance equality for LGBT+, BME and people with disabilities to promote good relations and understanding between our staff.
We are recognised locally, nationally and internationally for providing high quality, innovative healthcare.
