Full Job Description

This post is an important part of our ongoing development of medical services at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, offering the successful applicant the opportunity to work closely with the existing Oncologists to provide a high standard of care across the Trust. We are seeking a Specialty Doctor with enthusiasm, commitment and drive to work closely with colleagues throughout the organisation and within the community to help lead the organisation. The post holder will have a special interest in Medical oncology based at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage. This is a substantive post and comprises 10 programmed activities (PAs). This is an excellent opportunity within the Oncology department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The post holder will provide care for cancer inpatients, patients are assessed in both routine clinic appointments and as an emergency through the acute oncology service. The post is not recognised as a training post; however, on-going training will be provided. We have an active Postgraduate teaching programme in a modern Postgraduate Centre on the hospital site. In addition, staff support, and mentoring is also available. The post holder will gain invaluable experience various tumour types, with exposure to use of novel therapies (including immunotherapies, targeted therapies) and will have the opportunity to enhance their e-portfolio. The post holder will also be involved with clinical trials and managing patients on experimental treatments. The post holder will be encouraged to participate in audits, presentations and teachings. Although, this post is not recognised for training the appointee will be encouraged in their training and development within the role.
