Full Job Description

The department currently has 8.6 WTE consultants and we run a Service Week model. One of the consultants chooses to contribute to the second on call rota. The tier 1 rota consists of GP trainees, FY2, FY3 and stand alone doctors. The second rota consists of non-training permanent staff grade doctors.

  • MBBS or equivalent qualification
  • MRCPCH or equivalent
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Experience Essential
  • At least 4 years of paediatric experience, not including foundation modules (with 6-12 months of neonatal experience)
  • Must have competencies to work at registrar level.
  • Must be able to work at registrar level
  • Desirable
  • Second on-call UK experience.
  • Experience in a level 2 or 3 neonatal unit at Middle grade /Registrar level.
  • Previous clinical experience of Child Protection cases.
  • Minimum 24 month NHS paediatric and neonatal experience, Good communication skills.
  • Good team worker.
  • Flexible attitude.
  • Training Essential
  • Willingness to expand practice and skills in order to keep up to date with new developments.
  • Evidence of achievement of Level 1 paediatric capabilities at time of application and intended start date, as outlined in the Paediatric RCPCH Progress Curriculum.

  • Willingness to develop specialty interest.
  • Teaching Essential
  • Willingness to participate in teaching.
  • Desirable
  • Evidence of formal teaching training.
  • Audit Essential
  • Regular attendance at departmental audit meetings.
  • Desirable
  • Involvement in clinical audit with presentations at departments/hospital audit meetings.
  • Others Essential
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Microsoft Office or equivalent
  • Be able to provide complete details of their employment history
  • Desirable
  • Experience of hospital pathology/radiology information systems.
