Full Job Description

The post holder will be working for Mersey Care Mood Clinic and will be responsible for ensuring that our service users' needs are met through the delivery of high quality care.

The post holder is expected to participate in research and service evaluation of MCMC. There will be support in relation to planning and execution of research activity and it is anticipated that the post-holder will have existing experience - or demonstrate a clear enthusiasm to develop - expertise in how data and digital tools can help improve patient care.

· Providing medical treatment within a model of multi-disciplinarycare.

· Attending weekly clinical team meetings and performing medical duties that are decisions of thatmeeting.

· Compiling a patient's history from several sources, and preparing case summaries and dischargesummaries.

· Preparing reports for Mental Health Review Tribunals and Managers' Hearings and giving evidence.

· Liaising with other clinical teams within and outside thetrust.

· Liaising with general practitioners and medical specialists with regards the physical health of the patients.

· Specialist assessments relevant to the Mersey Care Mood Clinic.

The Trust recently underwent a reconfiguration of its medical management structure in May 2022 following its acquisition of North West Boroughs NHS Foundation Trust in 2021. The Chief Medical Officer is Dr Noir Thomas, Dr Anna Richman and Dr Kuben Naidoo are the Deputy Chief Medical Officers the Divisional Director and Director of Mental Health is Donna Robinson.

The post holder will be professionally accountable to the Chief Medical Officer, and clinically accountable/ report directly to the MCMC Clinical Lead (Consultant Psychiatrist).

The post holder will be responsible for completing new assessments of service

What The Mersey Care Mood Clinic Will Offer:

The MCMC will have flexible and "on-demand" access to a multi-disciplinary team comprised of:

· Nurses

· Psychiatrists (consultant and training-grade)

· Pharmacists

·Relevant allied healthcare professionals depending on patients' needs

·Research associate(s) to help locate and synthesise relevant evidence

· Administrative and operational expertise

The post holder will have access to a main office and a separate office for two consultants in Knowsley Resource Centre (KRC) where the team has access to assessment rooms. The Team provides a comprehensive, proactive, consultation- liaison service and teaching programme to all inpatient wards of the hospital covering all medical and surgical specialties, acute Admissions Wards and the Emergency Department. There are multiple hot desks available in the main office. There is also a well-equipped kitchen/ dining area for staff to use. The team works on a hot desking principle with each team having their own designated area. Admin staff are also based in same office which enables excellent communication and support across the teams. There is keenness within the team to ensure staff wellbeing, learning, personal development and support.

There is a process of clinic triage and allocation of cases. Practitioners carry out assessments and discuss these with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT). A treatment plan is then agreed and follow-up arrangements (if necessary) are made with the relevant Community Mental Health Team, other specialist teams or the patient's GP.

There are well established links with Step Forward (interface team with primary/ secondary care) Psychology service, Primary Care Mental Health teams, Primary Care psychological services (IAPT) and Talk Liverpool.

The post holder will facilitate improved working relationships with primary and secondary care colleagues including involvement in shared governance arrangements and where appropriate quality improvement. In general, the post-holder will be providing psychiatric care to individuals over the age of 18 years.

The Team will work closely with medical and nursing colleagues as well as occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers and other allied health professionals to ensure a good standard of care is delivered to our patients., · Other healthcare professionals from the Mersey Care R&I Staff Bank on ad-hoc basis

That there will be 2.5 SPA available in the job plan in order to achieve revalidation requirements for the GMC and meet PDP objectives.
