Full Job Description

TheSouth London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting into a substantive 10 PA Speciality doctor post to the TREAT team (job share is possible where appropriate arrangements can be made). Applicants must have relevant experience in Psychiatry and experience of working in the NHS,UK or similar health care settings. You must be able to demonstrate an ability to work independently and have good knowledge of Psychopharmacology and managing a range of mental disorders especially Psychosis. For further details please refer to attached advertisement Management of the day-to-day case load of the team Assessing new patients within set time frames- including outpatient clinics but also home visits as and when needed. Follow up medical reviews. Attending team hand over and other clinical meetings Carrying out risk assessments and formulating appropriate risk management plans Formulating care plans and carrying out treatment interventions as appropriate Safe prescribing and recording of drug information. Physical health monitoring of patients -including carrying out physical examination and investigations as appropriate., 1) conduct a comprehensive initial clinical assessment of patients to include the evaluation of physical health 2) work with the rest of the team to initiate new treatment, review and monitor response to treatment 3) be actively involved in the initiation of clozapine, third and fourth line treatments where indicated- involving regular monitoring assessments 4) work with the rest of the team to evaluate outcome for the patient and arrange discharge meetings 5) liaise effectively with community and other teams within SLAM and other Trusts, communicate decisions and arrange joint discharge meetings 6) ensure appropriate risk management and effective management of crises working with the patient's community team 7) communicate effectively with other members of the TREAT team and relevant community teams to ensure the best clinical care for patients, including the effective hand-over of care 8) actively contribute to audit, QI research and service evaluation 9) actively contribute to dissemination of the service and teaching
