Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit a flexible and enthusiastic Band 3 BMA Team leader for our UHCW Site in Coventry.
The post holder will provide support to the Specimen Reception Supervisor by performing pre and post analytical tasks on pathological specimens, in accordance with standard laboratory operating procedures.
The successful applicant will provide support in delivering training, compiling staff rotas and ensuring BMA staff compliance with KPIs, including performing PDRs. They will also assist with audits, incident investigation and the reviewing of laboratory documentation such as SOPs and working instructions. Full training and support will be given.
The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly across shifts and weekends in line with service requirements.

  • 2. Undertake Competency assessments of the specimen reception procedures to all new staff.
    3. To be a point of reference for Health and safety for the department attending and supporting regular Health and Safety meetings held by the division in the absence of the Specimen Reception Supervisor.
    4. Responsible for monitoring and recording of staff leave / absence.
    5. Responsible for ensuring mandatory training is completed.
    6. To undertake all duties as performed by the specimen reception supervisor in their absence.
    7. To support the specimen reception supervisor in their role.
