Full Job Description

  • To undertake the assessment, diagnosis and management of clients on his/her caseload according to need, including the development and implementation of appropriate care plans / programmes of care.
  • To ensure that clients / carers are involved in the planning and prioritisation of their care plans wherever possible.
  • To provide appropriate and timely advice to referral agents and others, in line with the HCPC Standards of Performance and Ethics and Standards of Proficiency.
  • To adapt practice to meet individual client circumstances, including due regard for cultural and linguistic contexts.
  • To employ clinical effectiveness by use of evidence-based practice and outcome measures.

    An opportunity has arisen for a newly/recently qualified Speech & Language Therapists to gain experience working within the Speech and Language Therapy service at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
  • The post is a permanent role and will have two days working with the SLT voice out-patient team and three days working as part of the acute ward team. You will be working as part of the well-established multi-disciplinary teams in the hospital and provide assessment, advice and therapy to in-patients and out-patients with swallowing, voice and communication difficulties. Speech & Language Therapy within STH NHS FT offers an excellent and well-established mentoring and support system. As part of a large team, clinical support is available through regular clinical meetings, team meetings, peer review and through a range of working models such as co-working and group therapy. Specialist support is available from many specialisms such as Dysphagia, Voice, Head & Neck Cancer and Research. The SLT service across both the acute and community teams in STH has approximately 55 staff (47 therapists, 7 assistants and 4 secretarial staff) (41.23wte). The SLT teams are highly motivated to provide a quality service to their patients, they are research active and embrace innovation.
