Full Job Description
The post holder will work as a recognised specialist Speech and Language Therapist in the Forensic Learning Disability Service for Adults with a Learning Disability. They will take a lead role in the assessment and treatment of patients presenting with complex communication disorders and challenging needs and/or forensic history. They will work closely with other professionals and Speech and Language Therapists, providing advice, training and education as necessary. They will supervise less experienced Speech and Language Therapists, assistants and students as appropriate.

We have an exciting and unique opportunity to be part of both the inpatient LD forensic team AND the Community Forensic LD Team. The post is offered either for an experienced SLT at Band 6 or a Band 5 development post.
This unique post is so incredibly diverse:
- work closely with MDT colleagues
- plan and deliver recognised treatment programmes
- advocate for the role of communication difficulties on offending behaviours
- provide targeted staff training
- work with outside agencies
- take advantage of varied CPD and development opportunities.
This role allows clinicians the opportunity to really make a difference, working with people from inpatients, through transition into the community and beyond! Our work is based around the Good Lives Model with an innovative model of care that has been adapted for people with LD by our service.
