Full Job Description

To provide in conjunction with the Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Team an accessible, person centred, effective, needs led SLT service to the 0-5 age population and their families. To work with increasing independence to provide assessment, diagnosis, suitable intervention and discharge for children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) on the caseload. To work closely with children, parents, carers and multi-disciplinary team members across Health, Social Services, Education and Children's Services to identify and support children's Speech, Language and Communication Needs as relevant to the post. To understand and meet professional and legal SEND responsibilities outlined in the Children and Families Act 2014 including contributing to statutory assessments of special educational needs and delivery of Speech and Language Therapy provision as specified in children's Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).   • Degree or equivalent and Licence to Practice - Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • Current registered membership of HCPC and RCSLT
  • Experience Essential Working with children in clinics and / or school based settings Desirable
  • Experience Training others
  • Working with multi-cultural client groups
  • Skills & Knowledge Essential
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal, non-verbal and written
  • Working in partnership with other members of the MDT
  • Desirable
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance
  • Knowledge of principles and models of Adult-Child Interaction, IT literate and able to use a range of specialist programmes
  • Travel around district and access different venues, with or without adaptations
