Full Job Description

Manchester Paediatric Cochlear Implant ProgrammeSpeech & Language Therapist/ Teacher of the Deaf/ Aural HabilitationistBand 6 Full time : 37.5 Hours/week, You will provide a comprehensive specialist speech and language /aural habilitation therapy service, working autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team providing support to profoundly deaf children, adolescents and adults who use cochlear implants

You willtravel to see patients in their local environments and to provide specialist clinical expertise and support to local medical and educational professional staff and families.

You will manage your own caseload and will participate in the service delivery of speech and language intervention to the patients within the Cochlear Implant Programme, adapting the therapy input and intervention as necessary based on service need.Whilst the largest proportion of the caseload will be with paediatric patients, support will also be given to adolescent and adult patients

You will have an interest in working with children, young people and adults with hearing loss. Cochlear implant experience is not essential as full training will be provided. There will be the opportunity to undertake training in Auditory Verbal Therapy and participate in on-going research projects.

You'll work in partnership with families and local providers to ensure the maximum speech, language and auditory potential of children, young people and adults with cochlear implants in a variety of settings.

You should have a recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy, Teacher of the Deaf or Certified Auditory Verbal Therapist. Additional qualifications in audiology, psychology or sign language is desirable.

The post involves centre, home and school-based services, so a full driving licence is essential.
