Full Job Description

In order to support our Welsh Government funded project (Prosiect Pengwin) for the development and evaluation of a bilingual surveillance tool for early years speech, language and communication development in Wales, we need an experienced Welsh-speaking speech and language therapist (SLT) based in Gwynedd or Ceredigion. Your work will support the team with data collection and assessment of speech, language and communication skills in Welsh and English.

You will play a key role in data collection for the project.
You will provide clinical judgement on speech, language and communication needs in children under 5 years of age.
You will collect and share data collection for the project with other members of the project team according to research protocols.
You will contribute professional insight towards the development of the surveillance tool.
You will support the research team in covering a diverse sample of Welsh and English speakers across Wales.
You will play a key role in developing a Welsh language data set for children growing up in Wales.

What you'll bring

With great people skills and experience working with early years children, you will be able to contribute and support this exciting project which will include Welsh and bilingualism in children's speech, language and communication development. Your experience working in SLT settings will support you to make effective clinical decisions, thus ensuring that our final tool is valid and robust.

Your knowledge of your local area will be invaluable as we select participants who represent the demographic of Wales.

In order to meet the needs of this role you will need to be a HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist. The role requires travel to and from participant locations and we therefore require that you hold a full UK driver's licence.
