Full Job Description

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapy(SLT) Support Practitioner with experience of working with adults with speech, language, communication and swallowing needs. This role will focus on carrying out programmes of work with adults in that have been devised by Speech and Language Therapists. You will work 1:1 and in groups with patients in acute and rehab settings and support others with patient care/communication.

You will work under the direction of qualified Speech and Language Therapists and will be responsible for completing work as directed. You will also be responsible for recording activities and liaising with the Speech and Language Therapists to report change/progress. You will be well supported by a robust leadership structure across the department.

The Speech and Language Therapy Support Practitioners sit within a wider adult service with access to a wealth of experience and support.

We also benefit from being part of a large Speech and Language Therapy service which includes children's services.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist Speech and Language Therapists in providing a service to adults with communication and/or feeding difficulties (in-patients and out-patients).

Any direct work undertaken by the Speech and Language Therapy Practitioner will be part of a total treatment plan devised by the Speech and Language Therapist.

The post holder will undertake the specified activities listed in the job description and will take some responsibility for his or her own workload within a broad framework laid down by the Speech and Language Therapists.

The post holder willprovide support to the team, working collaboratively with members of the multi-disciplinary team and contributing positively to the delivery of high-quality compassionate care.

The post holder will uphold the fundamental standards of safety and quality always putting the patients first and protecting them from harm.

The Speech and Language Therapist is responsible for the Speech and Language Therapy Support Practitioner's work and the welfare of clients.
