Full Job Description

This exciting new post offers the opportunity to work as a Speech and Language Therapy Technician within the Cardiff & Vale University Health Board Adult Speech & Language Therapy service. The post holder will be responsible for supporting delivery of a low-tech Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) service alongside a wider caseload of adults with communication difficulties. The post holder will be required to work effectively in collaboration with patients, families, Speech & Language Therapy colleagues and other health and social professionals, to promote the development, planning and delivery of intervention and training in the specialist clinical area.

The Adult SLT service at Cardiff & Vale is a small and friendly service with Clinical Lead SLTs providing robust support and supervision. Participation in service projects and audits is encouraged., To provide highly specialised support work, under the direction of registered therapists in both the hospital and community settings.To work under supervision toassist the therapist in clinical and administrative duties. To be responsible for delegated routine interventions, to be carried out independently and to progress these interventions within guidelines laid down by the therapists. To maintain and order equipment. To create personalised resources for people with communication difficulties.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive person with excellent communication and IT skills. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post., The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
