Full Job Description

The post holder will work under the supervision of the Band 6 Trust Sports and Fitness Lead to deliver a sport & fitness activity, under the Occupational Therapy department. This entails preparing and delivering safe sporting activities across the sports hub within the Bracton centre grounds (Gym, sports hall, MUGA and the Meadows track). As well as being a member of the wider Occupational Therapy team, supporting the Seven Day Therapies Programme. The Sport & Fitness Assistant will work with both individuals and groups contributing directly to the Sport & Exercise programme and the wider Occupational Therapy Seven Day Therapies Programme on average one in four weekends, either a Saturday or Sunday on a rota basis. The post holder will also offer a range of sporting activities as well as support access to community sport provisions to promote the social inclusion.Main duties of the job To plan and safely deliver sports and fitness sessions (team and individual) across the Sports Hub To work under the supervision of Trust Sport & Fitness Lead and Band 4 Sport & Fitness Technical Instructor To apply experience and skill set to assist in providing sport, exercise, and physical activities for individuals/groups of service users. To co-develop on the development of service user projects e.g. Uplift programme Communicate with service users, MDT and the wider Occupational Therapy team. Provide feedback on caseload and sports activities at monthly supervision. Have an awareness of local sport, exercise and physical activity providers that will promote social inclusion and skills development for service users. To undertake additional delegated responsibilities as directed by Occupational Therapy lead.
