Full Job Description
The Telegraph needs a Sport Social Media Editor to maximise the potential of our Sport stories on social media. In this role you will be responsible for developing and implementing our social media strategy for Sport content across all platforms. You will have the chance to work across a variety of content in a fast-paced newsroom, alongside some of the country's best journalists in their field. This is an exciting challenge to make a real impact in growing audiences and increasing engagement.,
- Develop the social media strategy for Sport and Telegraph Women's Sport (TWS) across all platforms, with a focus on engagement, account growth and driving pageviews & subscriptions.
- Create written, graphic and video content to be distributed on all sport social media channels that aligns with the Telegraph brand and wider Social strategy.
- Edit and maintain the Telegraph's sport social media feeds to a high standard.
- Attend Sport editorial conferences and weekly planning meetings to develop and advise on ideas and content plans for Sport and TWS.
- Create and implement social plans for live sporting events in order to maximise engagement with our content on channels at key times.
- Help promote the use of social media across the Sports desk, working closely with journalists and desks to develop ideas and implement strategies.
- Provide social news trends and insight on social conversations to the Sport team to inform commissioning and suggest angles that will maximise social reach.
- Use data and analytics to analyse performance, inform onward social strategy and deliver on Sport social media growth targets.
Previous experience in a social media role with a good understanding of creative content production in a busy editorial environment. - In-depth knowledge and passion for Sport.
- Strong understanding of social algorithms, capturing audience's attention and what generates engagement on across platforms.
- Experienced in video production and editing for social media.
- Ability to set strategy, present ideas and work collaboratively with other teams to achieve goals.
- Enthusiasm, self-motivation and initiative.
- Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines whilst maintaining flawless accuracy.
- Excellent and clear communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
