Full Job Description

The Department of Sport & Health at Solent University is seeking a Sports Development Officer to lead on the delivery of our competitive and recreational sports programme that enhances the experiences of Solent students, staff and wider community groups. With a significant focus on our BUCS competition and expanding the community use of the university's Sports Complex and Test Park facilities are the key focus for this exciting role.

This is both a strategic and hands-on role. Building strong links across the whole University community and with good use of customer insight and use of appropriate market intelligence. This role will work both as part of a team of dedicated officers and work independently on specific objectives. Close liaison with academic staff, sports complex staff, and the Student Union will be pivotal in providing a range of competitive and non-competitive activities to enhance the whole community experience.

We are expecting that you would have a worked within the sports industry, and have an in-depth knowledge of the Higher Education Sports Sector. Knowledge and understanding of the national BUCS programme, as well as knowledge of the regional sporting landscape would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will possess an excellent level of interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. The Sports Development Officer will have the ability to represent the University to a variety of internal and external audiences and must be willing to travel to the university's sites. They will also be expected to engage potential and future students through events such as our Open Days, external events (possible UCAS fairs) and our work across local schools and colleges.
