Full Job Description
You will be allocated a deck of suppliers worldwide and it will be required to work closely with them, to ensure the supplier's management team are fully supporting McLaren Quality and Capacity requirements. What You'll Do
- Working with Cross Functional partners to drive collaborative behaviours to achieve optimum outcome for McLaren Profitability.
- Ensuring new supplier site sourcing is well researched to build and maintain a competent supply base.
- Supporting supplier selection & development processes to achieve a self-sufficient supply base IATF 16949. Ensure Non IATF16949 suppliers deliver their certification qualification to the approved nomination plan.
- Supporting the implementation of APQP for all new parts.
- Supporting Robust Manufacturing Feasibility strategy deployment and reviews.
- Ensuring that allocated suppliers meet launch / delivery commitments in line with APQP
- Driving Supplier / Part Risk Assessments and develop risk mitigation actions.
- Identifying Critical suppliers / parts that require full cross functional team engagement with the supplier.
- Providing supplier progress reporting to Purchasing and SQD Program team for: APQP open issues, PPAP part pedigree prior to each build phase and PPAP delivery forecast / actual confirmation.
- Tracking and managing PPAP part approval to agreed delivery plan.
- Managing Non PPAP part Concession process to ensure "Plan for every part" is established to support the builds.
- Delivering Quality & Capacity Verification in line with McLaren Development Program targets.
- Driving Major open issue resolution at Key suppliers, to ensure Supplier Senior Management team are fully engaged in the resolution process.
- Developing improvement strategies with suppliers and ensure they are delivered
We are recruiting for a SQD Engineer - Chassis to join our Chassis Vehicle Technology team within the Supplier Quality and Development function group, work related experience with mechanisms, hydraulic systems manufacturing processes and quality control is a must. This includes but not limited to casting, forging, assembly fixtures strategy and a high literacy on GD&T. Any previous practical application in a quality or manufacturing engineering environment is essential., Ability to interrogate programme plans and evaluate supplier's ability to deliver, quality on time to meet company milestones. - Must be capable of planning manufacture of their components at the supplier from goods-in to goods-out, if required.
- Capable of carrying out effective scenario planning to establish potential mitigation actions, if required.
- Technical Engineering qualified to Degree standard, Master preferred.
- Must have previous experience in new product introduction.
- Have a working understanding of: PPAP, MSA, APQP, FMEA, SPC.
- Demonstrated structured approach to Problem Solving (8D).
- Practical use of Microsoft Office tools, SAP and CATIA.
- Application of GD&T and tooling concept.
