Full Job Description

Due to an NHSE IMT gap we have a vacancy for a fixed term 2-month ST1-2 Level Doctor within Infectious Diseases/Tropical Medicine at UCLH. The post will involve working at Core Medical Trainee (ST1/2) level within the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, both in the inpatient ward teams under the supervision of Infectious diseases Consultants and Registrars, as well as working in the HTD's emergency walk in service for returning travelers who have returned from tropical regions of the world within the last year who are recently unwell with conditions such as fever, bloody diarrhoea or rash. This provides a unique opportunity to work in the national referral centre from Tropical Medicine and tertiary Infectious Diseases service. This post would be ideal for someone who is looking to gain experience in Tropical Medicine/Infectious Diseases with a view to pursuing specialty training in Infectious Diseases.Main duties of the job The job's key responsibility is to work in the inpatient infection service at UCLH and at the emergency walk in clinic at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases (HTD). This provides unparalleled experience of managing tropical and imported infections as well as complex UK acquired infection. The post includes attendance at the rich program of learning and training opportunities throughout the week. Additionally, the successful candidate will be on the on call CMT rota for Infectious Diseases, including ward cover for ID inpatients, and admitting referrals to ID from the Emergency Department, under the supervision of the on-site infectious diseases registrar. The post will allow for valuable experience managing infectious presentations as well as strengthening core general medical skills.

    £49,909 a year per annum +London weighting (out-of-hours as per JD)
