Full Job Description

The Scottish FA is looking for a Plumber on a permanent basis to undertake plumbing pre-planned maintenance, reactive maintenance, repairs, fault diagnosis, breakdown repairs and new works on equipment and carry out minor new installations at Hampden Park.
Under the direction of our Facilities and Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating your own activities to carry out planned and reactive repairs and to ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety guidelines, statutory acts and regulations.
The successful candidate will have a full knowledge in all aspects of fault-finding diagnostics and maintenance to heating systems, various water, sanitary and drainage systems, including un-blocking of drains, toilets, and sanitary appliances.
Working knowledge of Legionella / water hygiene compliance would be advantageous. Working knowledge of swimming pool plant operation would be advantageous but not essential.

With excellent organisational skills and work ethic, the ideal candidate will work on their own and as part of the team. Especially, the job holder will be flexible as working can extend to evenings and week ends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints to assess or plan plumbing installations and layouts.

  • Installing, maintaining and repairing plumbing systems and fixtures.

  • Fitting and repairing various appliances.

  • Cutting, welding and assembling pipes, tubes, fittings, and fixtures.

  • Inspecting and testing plumbing systems for safety, functionality, and code compliance.

  • Handling stadium tenant queries and responding to call outs.

  • Troubleshooting and resolving problems.

  • Preparing cost estimates.

  • Monitor sub-contractor work to ensure they follow all the required health and safety procedures at Hampden Park.

  • Carry out tests and checks on water system and maintain the requirements aspects of the Legionella Water Risk Assessment

  • Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes

  • Writes reports documenting the problem and summary of actions taken


  • Working in a stadium with grounds as large as the Hampden Park means ad-hoc tasks become apparent almost continually and they need to be addressed to ensure the safety of the persons within the Stadium.
