Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for permanent Band 5 positions within the Endoscopy Department, which is a JAG Accredited department.

The Band 5 Endoscopy staff nurse is expected to support the senior staff in development of the service, showing professional & personal development. It is essential that the post holder can work within a diverse team, provide autonomous decision making and be aware of their limitations in accordance with NMC. The role involves the ability to integrate, communicate, support and be a role model to a wide multi-disciplinary group in a centre of excellence.

The Endoscopy department has Three procedure rooms for all endoscopy procedures and is extremely efficient with an excellent productivity record .

We are looking for someone who has the motivation, drive and commitment to help deliver an outstanding endoscopy service. You will work as a professional role model, demonstrating flexibility, excellent communication skills and an ability to work as part of team.

The post holder will work closely with the nursing team, health care assistants, wider endoscopy team including the pre assessment team, colorectal team, pathology, radiology and cancer services in the trust and have a strong clinical commitment to the Endoscopy service., The post holder will support the team leader responsible for providing effective Endoscopy Services;

Acting as the patient's advocate supporting them to navigate and make informed choices at all stages;

To be aware of the need to adhere to the Trust's policy on valuing equality and diversity in the workplace, which incorporates the patients' / visitors' and staff perspective;

The post holder will provide a high standard of nursing care by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of patient care.

Maintain contemporary detailed nursing documentation, documenting the condition and progress of the patient and report to medical staff an/or senior nursing staff any areas of concern.

Undertake nursing procedures and techniques in accordance with the agreed Trust policies and guidelines.

To carry out all relevant forms of care under supervision and when proficient demonstrate procedures of care supervise junior qualified and / or unqualified staff including student nurses whilst maintaining a safe working environment.
