1st Level live NMC registration is required for this role.
Ward 4 NSECH is a 24 hour emergency admissions ward specialising in joint gastroenterology and medicine , treating both male and female adult patients with acute medical conditions.
Our staff nurses provide a high quality service in a safe environment where the needs to each patient are cared for in a professional and holistic manner by using all available specialist knowledge and skills. The wellbeing of all our patients relies on appropriate and timely assessment, investigation, treatment and care.
Our ward can be a busy and challenging environment. In joining our team, you will bring your skills and passion to provide the highest quality patient-focused care and compassion for our patients. You must be a team player with excellent communications skills and have the ability to work using your own initiative as well as part of the wider team.
The post is fully rotational days/nights and covers seven days a week., The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a dynamic nursing team delivering all aspects of care to the patients.
You will have the opportunity to develop in this specialised field as well as continuing development as a Band 5. There are a huge range of learning opportunities available.

Our nursing teams are focussed on the six C's, and we aim to provide a high quality service in a safe environment where the needs of each patient are cared for.,

  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the ward team under the direction of the Ward Manager.

  • To be responsible for the organising and co-ordination of nursing services in the ward/dept in the absence of senior staff on a regular basis.

  • To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

  • To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.

  • To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
