Full Job Description

There is no age barrier to becoming unwell in later life with both mental and physical health problems. Our progressive Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) inpatient service at Auckland Park Hospital deliver high quality, accessible, person-centered care to the population of older people which the Trust serves.
The service offers assessment, diagnosis and treatment for older people who are suffering from an organic illness, alongside complex physical health problems or related frailty.
We have a multi-disciplinary inpatient team including nurses, medical staff, a physical health care practitioner, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and psychology. There is local access to nutrition and dietetic staff within MHSOP. We work in partnership with local Community Teams and our Care Home Liaison Team
You will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse and able to demonstrate continuing professional development, effective generic nursing skills and the confidence to meet the requirements of a Band 5 position working with the older person.

Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Older Persons Mental Health inpatient team Ceddesfeld Ward at Auckland Park Hospital. We are looking for an individual who has an interest in the care of older people in our service to contribute to our team. The role can be challenging but rewarding and will afford the successful candidate to work as part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team that is focused on delivering high standards of care through evidence-based practice. A supportive package will also be in place with team and managerial supervision as well as ongoing opportunities for personal training and development.
This vacancy is on our male organic ward which provides assessment and treatment for older people experiencing complex organic mental health problems.
A flexible approach is required as these posts involve working a 24-hour shift pattern, covering both day shift and night shift covering 7 days a week.
This post is only open to those candidates who already have their NMC registration in place and have successfully completed the preceptorship programme.
