Full Job Description

We are searching for a full time (37.5 hours) Band 5 Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse to join us on Beech Ward based in Torquay, Torbay Hospital. Beech ward is a 16 bedded inpatient Mental Health Ward that supports primarily older adults with functional mental health difficulties.

We warmly welcome Band 5 Registered Mental Health who are completing their nursing preceptorship to apply for this role. The successful candidate will be supported by a team of experienced Band 6's and Ward Manager.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team in a service that has been rated as Outstanding by the CQC. Working alongside the Nursing Team, and within the MDT, you will ensure that service users receive a high standard of person-centred care which enables them to recover in a timely way.

Main duties of the job

To assess care needs, develop, implement and evaluate individual care plans.

To provide holistic, recovery focused and compassionate care to people who use our services.

To provide named nurse role to people who use our service.

To promote and improve quality of service provided.

To manage the unit in the absence of Ward Manager / Team Leader

To participate in the internal rotation system including weekend working

To be a proactive, skilled member of the ward Multi-Disciplinary team

To have knowledge and experience of providing individual and group clinical/therapy work.

To demonstrate effective leadership and assist with providing advice and guidance to non-qualified staff and students.

To be responsible for the provision and maintenance of effective therapeutic relationships, which at all times acknowledges the rights, personal dignity and encourages opportunity for growth and development of the person using this service.
