Full Job Description
We are delighted to share we have vacancies for band 5 staff nurses to join the endoscopy team at Bishop Auckland following our expansion and refurbishment of the unit.
Within endoscopy no two days are the same, we are looking to recruit highly motivated, dynamic, forward thinking nurses, to help provide a safe high quality service to patients trust wide.
The endoscopy service provides a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for both inpatients and outpatients carried out within our 4 procedure rooms. We are also proud to being accredited for the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme., Our nurses ensure the safe admission, recovery and discharge of patients, as well as assisting our Consultants and Nurse Endoscopists within the procedure room. Patients attend the endoscopy department for various different endoscopic procedures; colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, gastroscopy, bronchoscopy and cystoscopy as well as some therapeutic procedures. Patients are referred into the endoscopy service via different routes; GP referrals, surveillance programmes, bowel cancer screening programmes or referred via the multi-disciplinary team. We are proud to provide a comprehensive in house training programme which ensures nurses feel supported and competent in their abilities. We also participate in a out of hours on call rota with Darlington Memorial Hospital acute site.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
