Full Job Description
Following the successful promotion of Staff Nurses to Senior Nurse, we have a vacancy to take on additional RMNs. We are seeking both newly qualified nurses and experienced practitioners to join the team and help Elmleigh to continue to strive for excellence.
Elmleigh is an adult acute mental health hospital situated in Havant. Elmleigh is split into two single sex bays, each with 17 bedrooms. We take a team approach at Elmleigh and whilst each member of staff is allocated a bay, we work together across the unit. In addition to the acute wards, Elmleigh also holds a place of safety situated in our new urgent care zone.
We have recently created our staff zone, this area includes changing facilities, kitchen, and lounge area for staff to go and relax in on their break.
We support flexible working patterns as we value home/work life balance.
In addition to our Matron and two Ward Managers, our leadership team includes two clinical leads
Ward managers and Clinical leads work late shifts and weekends along side you to enable coaching and support during your shift.
Midday training sessions are facilitated 7 days a week. This in-house training includes NEWS2, risk management, care planning, diabetes, reflective practice, DBT skills and many more topics.
Bespoke development plans for NQN's and experienced nurses looking to enhance their skills and plan their career pathway.
CPD opportunities include DBT, management/leadership training, non-medical prescribing, CBT for psychosis and many more.
Main duties of the job
To co-ordinate the care of an agreed caseload of patients with acute mental health needs.
To formulate care plans in line with identified need.
To provide recovery focused therapeutic interventions in line with the agreed care plan and risk assessment.
To assess risk, develop risk management plans, review, and adjust in line with the patient's needs.
To work in collaboration with patients as experts in their own care, promoting the principles of recovery, choice and personalisation, which value and empower the patient.
To use tools which promote user empowerment e.g. WRAP
To be proactive in ensuring patients receive the range of interventions they need in line with their care plan. This will include physical health monitoring.
To have a proactive approach to the role and needs of carers/families.
To be innovative and responsive to individual needs tailoring care accordingly.
To be proactive in monitoring mental health needs and respond in a timely fashion if needs change.
To participate fully in caseload supervision and management, to ensure that care plans are matched to need, and patients are able to 'flow' through pathways of care.
To work in line with all relevant policies and procedures, including care planning, risk and safeguarding.
To alert the Team Leader or Manager to any concerns in a timely manner.
