Full Job Description
This is an opportunity for a band 5 staff nurse to work in a brand-new modern hospital, The Louisa Martindale Building. We are excited to have moved into level C8 with our Acute Frailty Area. The new hospital with its spacious bays, side rooms, amazing views of the sea and Downs, allows the best environment to care for our elderly patients.
Caring for short stay elderly patients who are acutely ill, with differing underlying chronic conditions, enables staff to have many learning opportunities. Some patients are diagnosed as 'frail' and may have cognitive impairment.

We are supported by a practice educator for speciality medicine who will advise and encourage you in your continued professional development. You will receive a robust and supernumerary induction orientation programme to the area.
We welcome applications from those who currently hold a UK NMC registration. If you currently hold an overseas nursing qualification and require sponsorship we are not currently direct hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses., The nursing staff, working together with a dedicated multidisciplinary team, deliver person centred care working collaboratively to treat acutely unwell frail older people, focusing on the best outcomes for our patients.
We engage and involve patients, carers and their families from admission in care and discharge planning.
We provide education and training to our staff to increase their knowledge and awareness of the skills required to give the best care for older people, for example ,to prevent deconditioning, and pressure injuries, to provide improved nutrition and excellent palliative care., + Working with patients, acting as their advocate , involving them in their care plans, assessing, planning , organising and delivering high standards of care whilst maintaining good ward management , documentation and organisational skills.
+ Contributing to the health promotion of all patients through education, support and referral to the appropriate professionals and agencies as required.
+ Where relevant , be responsible and assist in the coordination of discharge planning in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.
+ Respecting patient individual needs and maintain confidentiality at all times.
+ Ensuring provision of a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients, relatives, visitors and colleagues.
