We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse to join our well-established nursing team within our male low secure forensic ward.

Phoenix ward is a 12 bedded male only low secure unit and we are part of the IMPACT provider collaborative and take patients from a variety of settings including Medium secure units, prison and PICU. The team includes, dedicated mental health professionals comprising of mental health nurses, health care assistants, occupational therapist, doctors, activity coordinator and a psychiatrist.

The team has a culture of supporting new and existing staff, seeking to establish a solid foundation of knowledge of forensic mental health treatment, as well as an understanding of what it takes to fulfil this role safely. We support newly qualified nurses looking for a supportive environment to develop their skills in the management of service users detained in a forensic setting, which is an exciting opportunity to consider.

You will have a role in working collaboratively with service users and families and enhance your skills within the forensic service setting. The ideal candidate will be motivated, enthusiastic and have a passion for delivering excellent patient care., The post holder will be band 5 Nurse who can demonstrate that they have a range of transferable skills that will benefit the delivery of high standards of care and enrich the MDT.

The role involves supporting the nursing team to deliver packages of care to a diverse group of people with complex needs. You will need to be able to display a positive attitude and have the ability to challenge positively where necessary.

You will work collaboratively with Service Users, Families/Carers and the Multi Disciplinary Team to provide a recovery-orientated approach and to foster autonomy and help service users to take an active part in treatment decisions and support self management.

The successful candidate will also need to be flexible and adaptable in order to work effectively in a challenging environment and contribute to our successes.

The role will involve working closely with various members of the MDT and the Ward Manager to ensure that care is of the highest standard, and performance standards and best practice are achieved.
