Full Job Description

As a qualified nurse you would be a vital member of the team in delivering person centred care to those admitted onto the ward. You will be working with people who can be very distressed and display some very challenging behaviours. It will be your responsibility to provide reassurance and distraction, using care and compassion, for the people living with dementia. You will also be responsible for a wide range of tasks such as care planning and implementation, risk assessment, physical health assessment, liaising with the wider MDT, ward rounds and you will be a named nurse.

What pre-employment checks will I need to complete?
By conducting pre-employment checks, the recruitment team will verify that you meet the pre-conditions of the role you have been offered. Pre-employment checks will be carried out according to NHS Employment Check Standards. The checks are:

+ Disclosure and barring service (DBS)/Criminal record check (dependent on role)
+ Professional registration and/or qualification check
+ Occupational health assessment
+ Employment history and reference validation
All applicants external to NHS will be required to provide HMRC employment history to cover the most recent three years. This information will used to validate employment history and references as part of pre-employment checks.

If the role you have been offer is not eligible for sponsorship, and you are not able to evidence your right to work, your conditional offer could be withdrawn.
What happens when pre-employment checks are complete?

Cedars Ward is a 10 bed organic assessment ward in Oldham. We deliver outstanding care to people who are living with dementia who are admitted for an assessment of their needs. Our aim is to help people live well with dementia by working with families, carers and the wider MDT to manage the distressing symptoms they are suffering from. We will then work with the families and carers on a discharge pathway that supports both the people living with dementia and their families and carers. Cedars Ward is a challenging and rewarding environment and we aim to offer the best care we can provide to both the people living with dementia and those that support them. We are supported by a full multidisciplinary team of Consultant Psychiatrists, Mental Health Nurses, Physiotherapist, occupational therapy and social workers
