Full Job Description

We are dedicated to staff development with an agreed Degree Pathway with the University of West London where support will be given to help you gain Intensive Care Nursing qualifications. There are close links with our onsite Lecturer/Practitioner, Specialist Nurses and other Critical Care units. The successful applicants will start and will have a full induction at NPH ICU to gain exposure and become competent with level 2 and level 3 patients. The posts are offered on a full time basis, which requires flexible working patterns to meet the needs of the service including bank holidays and weekends., Based within the London North West University Healthcare Trust, this post will be primarily concerned with the direct care of acutely ill Post-operative adults that have undergone complex surgery and being nursed in the Enhanced Care Unit (ECU) at the Central Middlesex Hospital. This is a Post- Operative Care Unit of London Northwest University Healthcare Trust at Central Middlesex Hospital. The post-holder will have mainly clinical responsibilities although teaching at the bedside will be required. The emphasis of the post will always be to deliver the highest possible standard of care to patients. The post-holder will be expected to broaden their knowledge of the care of acute complex postoperative ill patients through participation in development programs and post basic courses., Provides direct patient care under supervision to critically or acutely unwell adults within the ECU. The post holder will develop specialist skills in the care of critically or acutely unwell post-operative patients to include assessment, delivery and evaluation of care. Ensures the implementation of protocols and guidelines within own nursing practice. Facilitating the delivery of high quality evidence based care while working in close relationship with the Northwick Park and Ealing ICU Will assist Critical Care lecturer practitioner by acting as coach to students or other health care workers (HCW) attached to the ECU The post holder will rotate to the Intensive Care Units for skills development and enhancements on the first six months in post. The Post holder can be trained to become a Critical Care Practitioner if so desire and on completion of service competencies Participates in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practices within ECU and ICU. Accepts a positive culture towards a standard of competence in own practice. Reports any deficiencies in equipment or supplies to the shift leader in a timely manner. Reports untoward incidents/complaints to the shift leader and using the Trusts reporting system. Ensures the maintenance of a safe working environment for self and others. Contributes to the retention of staff within the ECU and the ICU.
