Caring for children and young people.
Initial and secondary assessment of patients.
Treatment of minor/major illness and injury/trauma.
Listening to the Voice of the Child.
Safeguarding of children and young people.
We have a team of ENP's, ACP's, and Practice Educators , supported by a diverse and innovative senior nursing team.

Working for our organisation
Our Emergency Department at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital provides care for both adults and children who attend with serious illness or injury.
The department has an 8 bedded resuscitation and 43 major cubicles.
We have a separate Paediatric ED. The Emergency Department footprint is currently expanding and this includes the Paediatric ED.
The department is classified as a trauma unit and we have a purpose built helipad onsite that will bring our most serious patients to the department via North West Air Ambulance.
We have a new, state of the art staff facility for staff changing with access to a shower as well as a new staff room, education room and wellbeing retreat for all staff.
We also have 2 Urgent Treatment Centres that are part of the emergency department and 2 Minor Injuries Units which are located at Accrington Victoria Hospital and Rossendale Health Centre., This is post is for our Paediatric area, however at times you may be asked to be flexible and support your colleague in all areas of the department, ED majors, Resus, UTC. This gives you opportunity to develop your skills further within the department, with support from our Practice Educator Team.
The department welcomes new members of staff and has an open and friendly culture which is strongly supportive of nursing development and expansion of skills.
You will have a suitable period of supernumerary in which you will be supported by a mentor.

+ Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata. For posts on Agenda for Change pay-scales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.

Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS)
If the role you are applying for is identified as either controlled or regulated activity as defined in in the Safeguarding vulnerable Groups Act (2006) any offer of employment is provisional upon a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.
The healthcare sector is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied. Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary. However, if you are applying for a post as a BANK worker, the payment must be made in full at the time of employment checks. The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £42.90 and for a Standard Disclosure £22.90 which includes a small handling fee.
