Full Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for you to join our Emergency Gynaecology Unit team, St Mary's Hospital MCS at Wythenshawe Hospital, within Manchester NHS Foundation Trust. This is a permanent position at 37.5 hours per week

EGU is a 24-hour service and this role includes days, twilights, nights and weekend work.

Patients are telephone triaged by Band 6 specialist nurses and are assessed over the phone, the unit also has referrals via A&E, midwifery team, GP's and other health care professionals or who attend for follow up appointments.

The unit provides care for all Gynaecology conditions.

Gynaecology experience is desired, with 6-12months post registration experience essential.

You will gain experience in an acute emergency gynaecology setting, this is a fast paced environment with a high foot fall through the unit. You will work within an experienced MDT team and will be supported with a supernumerary period. Completion of the Emergency Gynaecology Course is of benefit but not essential as the successful candidate will be enrolled on the Emergency Gynaecology Course providing you with the skills to see, treat and discharge all pregnancy related patients.

The successful candidate will play an essential role in assessing and triaging the patient and delivering timely care, ensuring clear communication with the MDT. The GAU unit has plans to become a 24 hour, nurse led service.
