Full Job Description

  • You will be responsible for the day to day management of your own patients ensuring they receive a high standard of patient care
  • You will be working closely with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure services are delivered in a timely efficient manner with patient safety being at the heart of all we do. You will be warmly welcomed into a vibrant friendly team, and have many opportunities to develop your skills.

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, committed and motivated registered nurse to join our Gynecological team on a full time basis. Newham University Hospital Gynaecology Ward is a 14 bedded acute ward and six recliners for Day Cases, divided into bays and side rooms, caring for people who present with various Gynaecological problems both Electives and Emergency cases including surgical female patients. If you are committed to contributing to a team delivering an excellent acute and Electives gynecological care service, and serious about pursuing a career within gynecological care, you will find this a very rewarding job. You will be joining an enthusiastic, friendly and motivated, We have a strong commitment to staff development and service improvement, and many development opportunities. You will have an excellent induction and orientation programme ensuring you have all the skills necessary to care for gynecological patients,
  • Up to date NMC Pin, Potential / ability to co-ordinate / manage shifts
  • 1 years post qualification experience
  • Skills Essential criteria
  • Delegation skills, resource management
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • IT Skills
  • Clinical expertise, able to work on own initiative and sound decision making
  • Safe practitioner in the administration of medicines
  • Willing to / evidence of expanded clinical skills - IV drug administration, cannulation, phlebotomy etc
  • Effective communication skills and courteous attitude with patients, relatives and MDT, promoting team building and good working relations
  • Neat and coherent written skills, attention to detail
  • Has gynecology skills or willingness to adopt to the new change..
  • Knowledge Essential criteria
  • Aware of cultural and social influences on health and importance of respecting diversity and differences
  • Current nursing practice developments and NHS reforms
  • Understanding of research and its application to practice
  • Desirable criteria
  • Standard setting and quality assurance
  • Importance of cost containment and resource management
  • Clinical supervision and reflective practice, RN Level 1
  • In possession of or willing to undertake clinical teaching / mentorship course and undertake role of mentor
  • Other Essential criteria
  • Awareness of own limitations, realism in own abilities
  • Commitment to / evidence of continuing professional development
  • Flexible, adaptable and confident
  • Has a good work attendance (sickness / absence) record
  • Willing to work a flexible shift pattern, including different times of the day, night and weekend
  • Sufficient to perform the duties of the post with any aids and adaptations
  • Willingness to work towards nurse-led practice initiatives and advanced skills
