Full Job Description

The post holder will work within the nursing team, based in Radiology, UHW Cardiff. The post holder will be accountable for the provision of specialist nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures.

To include pre-assessment, interventional assistant, circulating nurse, administration of conscious sedation and recovery nurse for both planned & emergency radiology procedures. Multidisciplinary working is paramount. We offer an excellent learning and development opportunity for all staff with our comprehensive in-house training programme.

Working hours 37.5hrs over 4 days of 0800-1800. 30 mins unpaid lunch. The post holder will be expected to be lead nurse in a 24-hour on call service, essential to the status of the UHB as a major trauma centre. The post holder will be governed by radiation protection policies and required to wear radiation protection clothing for long periods of time whilst in the IR theatres. An informal visit is highly recommended to familiarise yourself with this clothing and other aspects of this unique role.

The requirement to adapt to a pressurized environment characterized by frequent variation of work load and emergency situations is paramount, as is the ability to lead in these situations.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
