Full Job Description

Provides and receives complex information, communicating sensitively and confidentiallyinformation relating to patients/clients (for example, care plan discussions with patients)., To maintain safe custody of drugs, ensuring that checking, witnessing and administration procedures are compatible with statutory and trust requirements.

In the absence of Sister/Charge Nurse effectively respond to complaints/concerns and escalate as required.

To ensure clinical incident/near misses are managed and reported and escalated in a timely manner.

To be part of the multidisciplinary team decision making, acting when required as the patients advocate in order to support the patient's pathway.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, experienced neonatal nurse to join our team at Ormskirk. We are a Level 2 unit with 1 intensive care, 1 high dependency & 8 special care cots, providing high quality family integrated care to babies and their families.

If you would like you to join our friendly, experienced Neonatal team & help develop our vision for neonatal services in Ormskirk, you must be flexible, have good communication skills, be committed to providing excellent care and be RSCN/RM/RN Child Branch qualified with some experience of neonates.

As part of the role you will be given the chance to develop your management responsibilities, taking charge of daily activities on the unit, utilising skills required for working in a diverse team and environment.

The post is rotational to night duty and the ability to work as part of a team is essential., Communicates in a compassionate and empathetic manner, using persuasion and Reassurance.

Ability to recognise barriers to communication, and ability to modify communication style as and when required.

Ability to effectively communicate whilst providing training to students.

Demonstrate effective communications skills with the wider MDT team.

Maintain appropriate levels of training for clinical skills as needed within scope of practice.

Ormskirk Hospital is part of Merseyside & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust located within the Northwest of England.

On the Neonatal Unit we have 10 cots and provide care for babies over 27 weeks gestation and weigh over 800g. We also have 4 transitional care cots where babies and mothers are able to stay together whilst under neonatal care.

Our staff are highly trained and skilled in neonatal care. Our model of care is family-centred; we educate and empower parents to take an active role in caring for their baby. We are fully FiCare accredited - this in recognition of providing an excellent standard of family integrated care.

We have Stage 1 UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative accreditation - this accreditation recognises our commitment to support babies and parents to have close and loving relationships; supporting breastfeeding and recognising parents as partners in care.

We have a team of highly skilled and dedicated medical professionals including Consultant Paediatricians, who rotate between neonates and paediatrics, and 4 Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners who are based on the Neonatal Unit.
