Full Job Description

The post holder is responsible for the assessment of patient care needs and development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, both for a specific group of patients as the named care provider and in supporting the care of all patients in the ophthalmic outpatient department.
As a registered nurse, you will assist in the management and organisation of work as required, ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times. You will play a key role in the supervision and assessment of all learners and unregistered staff, providing a teaching role and acting as a named supervisor.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trust's policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.
If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary
In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Adult Registered Nurse who has experience or a keen interest in Ophthalmology to join our busy, dedicated and supportive team in Ophthalmology at the Stepping Hill Hospital. We are looking for a highly motivated nurse who wishes to contribute to providing compassionate, safe and effective care to our patients. We are a dedicated team who strive to provide high quality ophthalmic care to our patients.
Teamwork and being a team player is an essential attribute required for this post.

You will be expected to work towards the administration of topical ocular medications, cannulation and phlebotomy skills and you should be willing to engage in various OPD clinical activities such as general and speciality ophthalmic clinics, Fluorescein angiography, Nurse led clinics and the support of Emergency patient pathways.

Ideally you will have some experience working within an ophthalmic setting and be proactive towards developing your ophthalmic skills. We would also be happy to see you if you are newly qualified and we will provide a full teaching package in order to support your progress.
