Do you want to work in a department where no two days are the same, working in a fast-paced environment? Our Childrens and Young Person emergency department has recently expanded. We have upgraded facilities and create more emergency cubicles, and therefore we are looking to recruit professional and enthusiastic Band 5 staff nurses. We look after children from Birth to 16 years in this amazing new environment which is ideal when providing a first-class service. The department has 1 resuscitation bed, and 15 major treatment cubicles, 3 of which are classed as high dependency cubicles. We also have a dedicated mental health assessment room. We are co-located with an Urgent Care Treatment centre who deal with minor injuries and illnesses and between the UCC and both Adult and CYPED departments we attend to around 14,000 patients each month. There are currently 30 staff in the paediatric department. We have a great team of Heath care assistants, junior and senior registered nurses, and paediatric nurse practitioners., We are looking for nurses who are motivated, enthusiastic and can demonstrate at interview a kind and compassionate attitude along with a desire to provide effective and efficient emergency care. With strong nursing leadership, a dedicated CYPED Matron and a newly appointed Clinical Educator to guide and support you in conjunction with an allocated 'buddy'. We provide high quality Paediatric emergency care and give structured support and development to all our nurses including a tailored induction at the start, a period of supernumerary status tailored to every individual's needs. You will be given a structured orientation to meet your individual needs to develop as an CYPED nurse. As part of the team, you will develop a plethora or skills and will be supported in attending training for these courses which may include: + Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) + Paediatric Intermediate Life support (PILS + Plaster of Paris cours + Resuscitation skills + Triage/Initial assessmen + Immediate Life Support (ILS) You will also develop confidence and competence of your clinical skills in areas such as venepuncture, cannulation & catheterisation. You will have the opportunity to work in all areas of the Emergency Department once you feel confident and competent. We have permanent and fixed term posts available, We aim to facilitate maximum health gains and normality, with respect for the health choices made by children, young people and their families The aims of our service are: + Provide care closer to home to children/young people with acute & long-term conditions, including complex needs, life limiting conditions & palliative care. + Holistically assess, plan, implement & review a plan of care for children/ young people's nursing needs in partnership with them and their family. + Support children/ young people and their families & carers with the identified healthcare needs through a partnership & empowering approach. + To provide a high quality service for families through a co-ordinated multi-agency approach. + Prevent unnecessary hospital admissions & facilitate early discharge when possible. + To reduce follow up visits to the children's day unit & outpatient's clinics. + Provide teaching & support for children/ young people and their families. As part of the paediatric nursing team, you will be able to develop a plethora of skills and you will be supported in attending training, which may include: + Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS), + Paediatric Intermediate Life support (PILS) + Resuscitation skills. + Triage/Initial assessment + Immediate Life Support (ILS) We offer a wide range of opportunities to support your professional development including a bespoke preceptorship program/induction, regular simulation scenarios, paediatric sepsis, chaperone training, professional challenge and escalation. As well as access to a paediatric clinical educator who delivers a variety of training including minor illnesses, tracheostomy care, Paediatric life support, blood culture, venepuncture, catheterisation and cannulation as well as a number of other training opportunities.
