Full Job Description

All staff nurses will support and supervise unqualified members of staff including pre-registration nurses as this is a key component of the role. The post holder will have a valuable role in enhancing clinical practice and meeting the clinical governance agenda of the department. The post holder will have an effective working knowledge of safeguarding children and know how to act on and escalate concerns in accordance with Trust policy. The post holder will have / or will be supported to develop over time the skills required to effectively lead a team of nurses to ensure the optimum provision of family focused care on a shift basis in the absence of a sister or the ward manager. An Enhanced DBS Certificate, with the checking of the Children's Barred Lists is required for this position., To be responsible in association with the team leader for the formulation and implementation of individual patient care plans.To participate in the holistic assessment of patients, and to formulate and review individual patient care plans and to act as 'named nurse' or associate for a group of patients from admission to discharge as determined by the Ward Manager.To commence and participate in research/special projects as directed by the ward manager. To contribute to the setting, maintaining and monitoring of standards of care within the ward. Help to ensure that all equipment is in safe working order in conjunction with the department equipment controller. Internal rotations onto night duty and twilight shifts are required. To assist in the promotion of effective communication with all ward staff and other departments as required. Promote the safeguarding of vulnerable patients in line with national and local policy
