Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity? Do you want to be part of a service and help shape the future of the Complex Care Mental Health Service in Dorset?, To assist the Ward Manager in providing high quality nursing care and treatment of patients in conjunction with other professionals through the service's multi-disciplinary assessment, treatment, interventions and care programmes, which will include close liaison with family, carers, community teams, GP's, and other professionals involved in the person's care, enabling them to move on to the community as soon as is practicable. To work with people to help them acquire or regain the skills and confidence required for them to ultimately live in the community. Focusing on addressing and minimising the symptoms and functional impairment that people may have, with an emphasis on achieving as much individual autonomy and independence as possible. To develop therapeutic relationships with individuals and engage them in collaborative and effective partnership working to achieve agreed goals. To contribute to the provision of a daily structure and range of effective clinical interventions, so as to balance the therapeutic needs of the person with the need for support and security, and to promote their individuality and autonomy in the least restrictive environment. We currently looking for a Mental Health Nurse (RMN) band 5 (with professional registration) for our Rehabilitation Unit in Westbourne, Bournemouth. Nightingale House is a 13 bedded, mixed gender community rehab unit set on the Alumhurst Rd site within walking distance to both Westbourne shops and to the beach. The unit supports people who have chronic and disabling mental health problems that may be treatment resistant, often providing a stepping stone for those who have previously spent long periods in hospital. We have another inpatient unit in the West of the county in Dorchester. Both inpatient teams work closely with our newly established Community Rehab Teams to provide a seamless transition from inpatient into the community, ensuring the patient is supported on this stage of their recovery journey. Staff work hard to facilitate further recovery, that can include supporting self-medication, gaining skills for more independent living such as cooking, shopping, budgeting and supporting individuals to access community activities (leisure and vocational).
