Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Staff Nurse in our dynamic Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC).
Naturally, SDEC is a fast paced environment where we aim to assess, diagnose, treat and discharge patients within the same day.SDEC sees patients from a variety of specialties including Medical, Surgical, Urology and now Gynaecology has joined us. We are a 28 seated area with an additional 8 treatment chairs to give treatment to our more unwell patients.
NLAG is part of one of the largest acute and community Group arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.
Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Group has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.
Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.
As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.
We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Group and our community.
Should we receive a high volume of applications the advert may be closed earlier than stated.
The unit is fast-paced, well-led and organised, making it a great place to learn. Our established nurses are experienced mentors who are supportive, friendly and possess a wide range of transferable extended skills.
The SDEC area is co-located within the Integrated Acute Assessment Unit and works in hand together. There will be an expectation that you work across both departments to work both days and nights. We work cohesively and there is no "I" in OUR team - we work alongside each other and together.
Successful candidates will be well-supported, and a bespoke training package will be tailored to suit individual learning needs. You will acquire a broad range of extended skills to compliment your passion for nursing including but not limited to venepuncture, cannulation and catheterisation. You will have access to a wealth of knowledge to help you develop your nursing career - ranging from consultants, specialty doctors and specialist nurses. We want to invest in YOU. In return, SDEC asks that you are positive, enthusiastic and passionate in delivering the 6C's of nursing.
