Full Job Description
The Surgical Assessment Unit is a fast-growing service at Bedford hospital. It is an acute unit that provides rapid assessment and treatment for surgical patients. SAU receives patient referrals from GPs, ED and UTC. Patients attend the Unit for follow ups as well. Surgical assessment Unit has inpatient and clinic areas

The urgent and emergency care directorate is in the process of developing a robust standard operating policy which will underpin the Same Day Emergency Care unit operation policy. All patients attending the unit will be assessed utilizing pathways to ensure patient safety, effectiveness and efficiency.
Main duties of the job
Bedford Hospital opened its' Surgical Assessment Unit in 2023. We are looking for high motivated, dynamic hard working nurses from across a number of specialities.
You will work alongside a friendly, supportive, and professional integrated team comprising of consultants, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapist, discharge co-ordinators, advanced clinical practitioners, pharmacists, social services and community services.
Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital services to a growing population of around 700,000 people living across Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas across two busy hospital sites in Bedford and Luton. Both hospital sites offer key services such as A&E, Obstetrics-led Maternity and Paediatrics.
