Full Job Description

This Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator position will report to the Stakeholder Engagement Manager and will work within the Customer Services and VICE directorate based in our London office. You will be a permanent employee., The pace of change is increasing. We must understand how the needs, expectations and preferences of our customers and stakeholders are evolving so that we can deliver a great customer experience, shape new services and enhance existing services, all while building and maintaining an electricity network that enables Net Zero at the lowest cost to billpayers.

Job Purpose:

You will work with senior management and teams across our business to shape, facilitate, deliver and report on our ongoing engagement and research programme. Our programme should address important questions that UK Power Networks needs to answer to meet the evolving needs of a diverse customer base and maintain our performance as the leading distribution network operator.

Working as part of a close-knit team, you will work across the business to provide guidance on how to deliver great engagement that provides insights that help teams make good decisions and deliver their goals. You will work with teams across the business to support them to develop purposeful, inclusive and effective engagement strategies and delivery plans, monitor their delivery and track how the insights and actions deliver benefits for customers and the business. You will also work with teams to develop stakeholder maps, identify new stakeholders and surface insights for discussion by teams. You will also support the delivery and improvement of the team's processes to reflect best practice and meet the business's evolving needs.

You will also help deliver our annual Ongoing Engagement Report and Annual Vulnerability Report. This will involve working with the relevant teams to explain publicly how our engagement and research programme and our consumer vulnerability programme have influenced actions and decisions and led to measurable benefits for customers, the network and wider society., Engagement and research programme development

  • Work with teams across the business to identify engagement and research activities following business and team priorities

  • Partner with teams to develop purposeful, inclusive and impactful engagement delivery plans

  • Be the go-to person for good practice in engagement, advising teams on the appropriate engagement mechanisms and approaches to deliver their goals, and working with them to develop detailed engagement delivery plans

  • Work with teams to develop stakeholder maps to support delivery of engagement goals, evaluating important relationships and identifying opportunities for proactive engagement

  • Support in strategic analysis to identify new issues for engagement and research

  • Maintain the central engagement and research plan, including documenting the delivery approach for engagement and research activities across all teams and providing line of sight to key priorities


  • External engagement reporting
  • Help deliver our annual Ongoing Engagement Report and Annual Vulnerability Report, working with the relevant teams and explaining publicly how our engagement and research programme has influenced actions and led to measurable benefits for customers, the network and wider society

  • Work with the Consumer Vulnerability team to help develop the strategy and approach for the Annual Vulnerability Report, identifying enhancements year-on-year and incorporating best practice from the energy sector and beyond

  • Coordinate with teams across the business to identify important projects and impacts for inclusion in the reports, sourcing quantitative and qualitative benefits with supporting evidence

  • Support the storyboarding, drafting, design and publication of the reports, commissioning and managing external support (e.g. design, copywriting)

  • Coordinate the approval process

  • Coordinate with the Communication and Media team to develop a communications plan for the publication of the reports


  • Coordination across UK Power Networks external reporting suite
  • Coordinate with owners of main external reports across the business to ensure agreement on engagement and research-related content, including engagement and research strategy, scope of engagement and research programme and priorities, main initiatives and their impacts - reviewing and agreeing content


  • Advocating engagement skills and best practice across the business
  • Embed and enhance understanding of best practice in engagement and research across the business, including through guidance, materials, training and advice

  • Be the go-to person for excellence in engagement delivery, partnering with teams to ensure engagement plans are purposeful, inclusive, relevant and impactful and reflect the latest best practice


  • Internal engagement reporting
  • Help deliver internal reporting on the scope, progress and impact of the engagement and research programme


  • Enhancing systems and processes
  • Support in defining and delivering enduring processes to manage engagement and research, including identifying opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Support in maintaining and extracting main content in our engagement and research systems

    Degree level qualification in PR/Marketing/Communications/Engagement or equivalent experience

  • Developing/delivering engagement strategies and plans

  • + Experience developing and delivering multiple engagement approaches and delivery plans to meet our priorities, involving a range of stakeholders and engagement methods
    + Experience managing stakeholder maps, including for strategic issues
    + Awareness and understanding of best practices in stakeholder engagement
    + Analytical and interpretative skills, including the ability to extract key actionable insights from engagement
    + Experience of aligning engagement activities to strategic goals, with exposure to PESTLE analysis or similar
    + Experience of recording, monitoring and evaluating engagement activities

  • Working collaboratively across teams

  • + Experience working collaboratively with multiple teams across an organisation
    + Ability to build collaborative relationships with teams, establish shared goals and see them through to delivery
    + Experience sharing engagement good practice, e.g. through presentations,, or guidance materials

  • Experience working within the energy or utilities sectors

  • Experience working with systems and processes to ensure effective recording, monitoring and evaluation of engagement activities

  • Experience developing and delivering external written reports, including coordinating inputs from others to agreed deadlines

  • Experience of resource planning and budgeting for external suppliers

  • Experience developing internal communications

  • Ability to make decisions with information that is incomplete or ambiguous.

    You will attract a salary of £33,161.00 and a bonus of 7.5%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote
