Full Job Description

We are looking for a Junior Content Designer to work with the statistics product leads and digital content teams within UKHSA to ensure that our statistical portfolio, which includes official statistics and accredited official statistics, are published to a high standard and in a timely fashion on GOV.UK. Working with those teams, you will help to improve the quality, value and transparency of draft reports prior to their release, focussing on areas such as clarity and accessibility. You will then work within Whitehall Publisher to prepare those reports for publication. You will also help to maintain our other GOV.UK content, such as our official statistics release calendar and other pages, and work with the wider team to help ensure that our releases remain compliant with the Code of Practice for Statistics., You will:

  • Create content on Whitehall publisher: draft reports, landing pages, and collection pages, and submit content for review, ready for publication
  • Support the development of official statistics products in various digital formats ready for publication on UKHSA's GOV.UK website
  • Work collaboratively with statistics product leads and the wider team to develop statistical outputs that are engaging to the user and ensuring content remains aligned with user need
  • Help to maintain the official statistics release calendar for UKHSA outputs on GOV.UK, liaise with product leads to ensure outputs are pre-announced on Whitehall publisher and published to those timescales (in keeping with the Code of Practice for Statistics)
  • Support the official statistics publications process end to end, flagging risks, issues or breaches of the Code with the Head of Profession for Statistics or other nominated statistics lead
  • Support the release of any ad hoc publications as and when required
  • Build relationships with product leads and digital content teams
  • Keep up to date on and use the Government Digital Service (GDS) style guide and other standards to design high quality, accessible content
  • Be an active member of the content design community, contributing to knowledge of best practices
